After launching the application, notice that there are 3 tabs available: Relocatable(applications that are in the device memory and support moving to a memory card), On the SD card(applications that are currently on the SD card and can be moved back to the device memory) and In phone(apps that cannot be moved and can only run in the device's memory).

The main advantage of the application is its mass allocation, which will allow you to transfer all applications to an external memory card at once. To do this, open the menu, and then select the item "Move All". In the window that appears, mark the applications that you want to move and click « OK» . After that, you will only need to click on the button "Move to SD card" and all.

This method is applicable not only to the application, but to its cache, which just takes up most of the memory, and the FolderMount application, which requires ROOT rights on your smartphone / tablet, will help with its transfer. If you don't know what is ROOT, then we read and carefully delve into the various forums that you will find in Google. After installing the application, click on the plus sign in the upper right corner. In field "Name" enter an arbitrary name, for example, gta, fight back and any other. In field "Source" find the folder with the game cache, which is usually located here: sdcard/android/obb/your app name folder. After you find the folder, click on the checkmark in the upper right corner. Immediately after that, a window will appear asking you to automatically create the target folder, with which you unequivocally agree. After that, check the box next to "Cancel Scan" and click on the checkmark in the upper right corner and confirm all your actions. Then wait until a message appears in the notification panel about the successful movement of the cache.

As a rule, you need to transfer data from one memory card to another after purchasing a new larger SD card. The matter seems to be not complicated, but there are some nuances, for example, when you need to keep all previously installed programs and applications working.

Before transferring files to a new memory card, it must be prepared. The first thing to do is format the memory card. This will get rid of the appearance of some problems at an early stage. To do this, go to the “Menu” of the phone, then to “Settings”, select the item “Memory” and “Erase SD card”. Or you can connect the device to a computer and format it as a regular removable disk (you should format it in FAT32).

After successful formatting, you need to assign a name to the memory card. It is better to set the name the same as that of the old SD card. Then you need to enable the visibility of hidden folders and files on the computer. You can do this through the menu bar of any folder - "Tools" - "Folder Options" - "View" (if the menu bar is not displayed, you need to hold down the "Alt" key). Displaying hidden files is necessary in order to copy absolutely all data from the phone's memory card (some files may be hidden).

Transferring files

The easiest way to copy data to another memory card is with a card reader. To do this, you just need to insert the old SD card into the device, copy all the data to the computer, and then insert the new memory card into the card reader and write this data to it. As a rule, card readers support a very high data transfer rate, so this process will take a little time.

If there is no card reader, you can simply copy the files through a computer. To do this, you need to insert an old memory card into your smartphone, enable the appropriate operating mode for data transfer in the settings, and connect the device to a computer via a USB cable. Then you need to copy all the data from the SD card to the desktop or to any other folder. Depending on the total amount of information, this procedure may be delayed.

After that, you need to disconnect the phone from the computer, turn it off and insert a new memory card. Then you need to connect the device to the computer again and move the files to a new SD card. If everything was done correctly, then all files and applications will be displayed correctly.

When using the phone, many are faced with such a problem as memory overflow. Various music is downloaded to the phone, pictures and videos are thrown off, photos are taken. Some use the phone's memory card as a portable flash drive. All this leads to the fact that sooner or later the memory card is full and needs to be cleaned. Of course, this can be done manually by deleting unnecessary or annoying pictures and music, but this process is long. The best way is to format the phone's memory card.

The formatting process is short and will take no more than three minutes, and the card itself will be completely empty after formatting. Over time, a large number of different files accumulate on the memory card of a mobile phone, many of which turn out to be completely unnecessary. There are several ways to clear a memory card from them.

Perform a subsequent reinstallation of the software in the memory of your mobile device using the installation files. If they are not currently on both memory modules of the device, copy them by first connecting the mobile device to the computer in Mass Storage mode, through the software installed from the disk, or by connecting via Bluetooth wireless technology. It does not matter to which folder the installers will be copied.

Disconnect your phone from the computer, open the file manager and open the folder where the app installers are located. Start their installation by selecting the mobile phone memory for this. Run the installed items and check if the custom settings for them are saved.

You can also use an alternative way to transfer applications. To do this, open the list of installed software in the main menu of your mobile device. Mark the required elements and open the context menu. Select the move item and in the window that appears - the desired directory. This action is not available for all models of mobile devices.

Many applications may require an Internet connection, calls or SMS to continue working. In this case, make sure that the application is not malicious.

Copy and paste operations are the most commonly used functions of file managers on any operating system. Each OS provides the user with the ability to do this in several ways, using the mouse, keyboard, or a combination of both. The sequence of actions for such operations with the contents of an entire folder is not very different from the actions for transferring one separate file.

Navigate to the folder whose files you want to transfer. If it is located on the desktop, then simply double-click on its icon, and if not, then do the same with the "My Computer" label and go through the folder tree in the file manager window to the desired directory.

Select all files in the folder. To do this, click on any of them, and then press the key combination Ctrl + A (Latin letter). The same can be done by expanding the "Organize" drop-down list above the list of folders and selecting the "Select All" line in it.

If you want to place duplicate files in another folder, leaving the contents of the original folder in the same place, then copy everything selected - press the key combination Ctrl + C. And if you want to move all objects, leaving the source directory empty, then use the cut operation - press the key combination Ctrl + X. Both of these commands can also be selected in the context menu called by right-clicking on the selected area in the Explorer window.

Go to the directory where you want to put everything copied or cut. Click on the field in the right pane of Explorer and press Ctrl + V - this corresponds to the paste operation. You can do the same using the corresponding line in the context menu. This completes the procedure for transferring files from one folder to another.

Instead of a combination of cut and paste, you can use the drag and drop mechanism - just move the previously selected files with the left mouse button to the icon of the desired folder. If the source and destination folders are placed too far apart in the directory hierarchy, then you can open each of them in a separate window and use any of the described mechanisms (drag and drop or copy and paste).

Copy the required files to the selected folder on the phone's flash card. Then close the file manager window and safely remove the device. If you had to press a button on your phone to activate the flash card mode, then disable this mode on the device, and only then remove the cable from the USB port.

A card reader is a device that allows you to read data from memory cards. If you have ever used a card reader, you have noticed that when connected through a card reader, the memory card is visible just like a regular flash drive and no special software is needed to work with it. But more than one type of memory cards is sold, so the choice of a card reader must be approached carefully.

What types of card readers can be found on sale?

Firstly, card readers can be divided into internal (installed in the computer case, connected to the motherboard) and external (connected with a cable to the computer's USB port like a keyboard or mouse).

Secondly, card readers can be divided according to the types of cards they support. You can find card readers for each type of memory card, but there are also universal devices that allow you to work with several types of cards. If you are sure that you need only one type of cards for all your devices, you can purchase a card reader only for them (most often such a card reader looks like a slot for inserting a memory card there), but a universal card reader will allow you not to spend money if there is the need to read data from a card of a different type.

Useful advice: the types of cards that the card reader supports, this is its main characteristic. Before buying a card reader, inspect all devices in which you use memory cards, write down their type, and ask the seller in the store to show you all card readers that support all your cards.

Operating system compatibility is also important. Before paying money, please note that on the box (or in the device passport) all OSes with which the card reader software can work are indicated.

The built-in memory of an Android device often runs out quickly, so users have to store large amounts of information on the microSD. But what if Android does not save downloaded content to the memory card - applications, photos, music, and other files?

Memory card problems

First of all, you need to make sure that the memory card is working and ready to receive files. What to do:

The memory card may not be compatible with the smartphone - for example, it may exceed the capacity allowed for a specific phone model. If the flash drive is larger than a certain amount of gigabytes (32, 64, 128, etc.), then it simply does not recognize it, because not programmed for this volume. In this case, the only way out is to use another microSD carrier, a smaller one.

If no card is detected, it makes sense to contact the service center. Your phone may have a hardware problem that is preventing it from working with external drives.

Wrong folder in browser

If saving problems occur while downloading files in the browser, then you should check the destination folder. It may be specified incorrectly, which is why the browser does not understand how to save photos, music, videos, and other content. Let's look at the example of UC Browser:

1. Open the "Downloads" section in the main menu.
2. Click "Settings".
3. In the "Load path" field, specify a folder on the memory card.

After such a short setup, files in the browser will be downloaded only to the specified directory on the card, without clogging the internal memory.

Files cannot be transferred to a memory card

This is most often the case for built-in Android apps. In the phone, they can only be stored on the internal storage, otherwise the smartphone will not work. At the same time, any application from a third-party developer can be moved to a microSD.

1. Open the Android settings, go to the "Applications" section.
2. Find the program you want to transfer to the memory card along with all the files.
3. Click "Move to SD".

If the button is inactive, then the application cannot be moved. If it says "Move to phone" instead of "Move to SD", it means that the program files are already stored on the memory card.

Lost settings for transferring files to a memory card

In the Android settings, you can manually specify which memory is used by default - internal or external. Depending on the selected value, the files will be downloaded to the phone or microSD card. After updating the system, the settings may fly off, so it's worth checking them.

Not every model and manufacturer has such a setting. Check for yourself.

Look in your application from where you are going to save files, if it is possible to choose a save location in the settings. If this is not the case, then you will have to manually move the files from the internal memory to the microSD card.

Almost every application on Android is installed in the internal memory of the device. And it's not rubber, so it tends to fill up. So any user can face such a situation. An SD card will come to the rescue, the volumes of which can reach tens and even hundreds of GB. Now we will tell you in detail how to transfer the application and cache to the SD card.

It is also worth noting that not every card is suitable for the procedure for replacing internal memory with an external one. It's all about the speed classes of SD cards, which vary from slow (C2 and C4) to fast (C10 and C16). If the procedures below are performed on slow SD cards, then data transfer will affect the overall performance of the device, therefore it is recommended to use only fast flash drives.

There are not so many ways to replace internal memory with an external one, so we will focus only on the most effective ones, and they will be described sequentially: from simple to more complex.

Migrate cache for Android 4.0+ versions

It is worth noting that this method does not require ROOT rights, but is not suitable for all applications. So, if the application description does not contain the necessary buttons, you should not be upset, because it was the easiest way. For even greater ease, you can use a utility or something similar, where all applications are conveniently structured, which speeds up the search for the right ones.

Transfer using third-party programs

The principle of operation of these programs is very similar, so let's consider the method using Link2SD as an example.

This method, unlike the next one, does not require special knowledge from the user, except for elementary concepts of Root rights.

Full transfer of android applications to SD memory card

An attentive user could notice that Link2SD and other similar utilities have an interesting “Refer” function. With its help, not individual parts of the program are transferred, as in the previous paragraphs, but absolutely all data. In this case, the program will consider that it works in the internal memory of the device, which for some of them is an important condition for normal operation.

To implement this method, the SD card must be “split” into two sections, after which all data will be deleted from it, so be careful and make a backup copy of important information.

Partitions on a memory card can be made just like on a computer, using programs such as Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 Server or MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition. But this is a rather laborious process, and therefore we will do everything right on the smartphone using.

1. Download and install the utility.
2. In the device settings, we find the "Memory" section, where we click "Eject SD".

   

3. We go directly to AParted and in the first tab Create, press ADD twice.

   

4. In Part 1 we leave Fat32, and in Part 2 we select ext2 or any other format, if you know what they are for at all.
5. We look so that the Format field is checked and select the required memory size for each of the sections. In this case, Part 1 will remain our standard "flash drive", but applications will refer to Part 2.
6. Click APPLY and confirm the action.

   

7. We patiently wait for the end of the process.

   

Now applications and games can be safely linked to the second section of the memory card, using the corresponding function of Link2SD or its equivalent.

Transfer cache to flash drive

This method is useful for users who like games with a large cache. Now many large projects (for example, a series of games,) take up several gigabytes. The same goes for navigation charts. Not all devices can boast such an amount of internal memory, so FolderMount comes to the rescue. It allows you to create virtual folders so that the system still thinks that the application data is in the internal memory, although in fact all the files are located on the flash drive.

1. We install .
2. We launch and grant Superuser rights.
3. Open the pull-down menu on the left side of the screen.

   

4. Go to the "Application Analyzer", look for the desired game and click on it.

   

5. In the window that opens, we see the volume occupied separately by the application data and its cache.
6. Click the "Create a pair" button opposite the cache size.

   

7. We answer “Yes” to the question and click the checkmark at the top of the screen, after which you must again answer “Yes”.

   

8. In the notification bar, you can see the process of transferring files.
9. As soon as the transfer is completed (reaches 100%), open the pull-down menu again and select "List of Pairs".
10. It remains only to press the switch opposite the name of the game that you transferred.

    

Replacing internal memory with external

This method allows you to trick the system, i.e. Android will consider the SD card as the device's memory. One of the main advantages is the fact that all applications will be automatically installed on the flash drive. Ideal for devices with very little internal memory. To implement it, you will need a file manager, it is best to use Total Commander. The meaning of the method is to swap the paths to the device's memory and flash drive.

3. The file contains many lines that begin with # (hash symbol). But we need a line that starts with the words "dev_mount" and without (!!!) the pound sign at the beginning.
   There should be 2 such lines: the first indicates internal memory, the second - external.

   For example, if your lines are:
   dev_mount sdcard/mnt/sdcard
   dev_mount extsd/mnt/extsd

   Then they should become:
   dev_mount sdcard/mnt/extsd
   dev_mount extsd/mnt/sdcard

   That is, the most important thing is to swap the words after /mnt/.

   

4. Nothing else needs to be changed, click the "Save" button (floppy disk icon).
